Request an estimateHow do I get an old coating or vinyl floor off my concrete in Dublin?
Concrete floor stripping and removal in Dublin, CA takes old epoxy, paint, sealer, vinyl tile or glue off your slab by grinding, milling, blasting or chemical stripping, so the bare concrete is clean and ready for its next floor.
Usually you're looking at epoxy that's peeling in the garage, a sealer that's worn through, or an old tile floor with black glue under it, and nothing new will hold until that's gone. The price and the schedule mostly turn on what's on the slab, how much of it there is and whether it has to be tested before it comes up. If the bare slab needs more grinding and surface prep before the next floor, we build that into the plan. I look at the floor in person, and you get the estimate in writing.
How we handle concrete floor stripping and removal
When I come out, I want to know what's on the floor today and what you plan to put down next, because those two answers pick the removal method. If it's old vinyl tile or glue that might hold asbestos, we have it tested before anyone starts tearing it up. Once we know what we're dealing with, our crew clears and covers the work area, takes the coating or flooring off down to bare concrete, and checks the slab for cracks, soft spots and leftover glue, since whatever's left behind is what the next floor has to stick to. We clean up before we leave, and if the slab isn't ready for a new floor yet, I'll tell you straight.
Stripping is usually the first half of a bigger job. Most garage and basement floors we take up get new epoxy floor coatings right after, and for shops and warehouses we line the removal up with commercial & industrial epoxy floor coatings so your space isn't shut down twice.
Concrete floor stripping and removal in Dublin: permits and planning
Dublin requires a permit unless all of the work is exempt, and the city's exempt list names painting, papering, carpeting and similar finish work without mentioning floor stripping, so that list doesn't settle whether your job needs one. We check with the city before work starts, and when a permit is needed, we take care of the paperwork as part of the job. If you'd like to ask yourself, the city's Building & Safety Division answers permit questions at 925-833-6620.
We see a lot of garages with an older coating that's let go and homes where tile went down over the slab years back, so the floor's age is one of my first questions. We're based in Dublin and do the same work across the Tri-Valley and East Bay, including Pleasanton and San Ramon, and if your city isn't listed, call and ask.
Why call us for floor removal
I look at every floor myself
I come out to every job before we price it, and our crew does the prep and the install. The person who picked your removal method is the one you can ask about it.
In business since 2017
I learned concrete on my dad's jobs before I could drive and opened this business in Dublin in 2017. Nine years in, prep still comes first for me, because that's where most coatings fail.
Licensed and insured on every job
We're licensed and insured. Removal means heavy grinders and blasters working inside your house, so that matters before the first machine comes through the door.
Dust control on every grinder
California requires a dust reduction system when powered tools cut or grind concrete, and our grinders run with one. That cuts down on the fine concrete dust in the air while we work.

Frequently asked questions
Which concrete coating removal method is best for my floor?
The best method is the one that leaves the right surface for the floor going down next, so name that coating when you ask for a quote. Diamond grinding or milling often makes more sense when the goal is a flat floor and controlled removal, but grinding alone may leave the slab too smooth for a coating that needs a rough surface, and blasting may work better there. Shot blasting can be efficient on a large, open floor, and chemical stripping can help with a thin coating that machines reach poorly.
Can old vinyl floor tiles or glue contain asbestos?
They might, which is why a flooring trade group advises against sanding, dry sweeping, dry scraping or bead blasting old resilient flooring and its adhesive, since they may contain asbestos fibers or crystalline silica. The Bay Area Air District lists vinyl floor tiles among materials that might contain asbestos and says a house might need testing before renovation starts. If you're tempted to pry a few tiles up yourself, hold off until it's been tested.
Who is allowed to remove a floor coating in California?
A contractor licensed by the Contractors State License Board is required when the job needs a building permit, uses additional workers or costs $1,000 or more in labor and materials, so a crew with helpers on your floor needs that license. Asbestos abatement is separate, and contractors doing it must be certified by the board.
How much does it cost to strip epoxy off a concrete floor in Dublin?
Your price comes from what's on the slab and how much there is, and you'll have it in writing after I see the floor. Thick or layered coatings, glue left under old tile, a tight or crowded room and any testing first all add work, while a single thin coating in an empty, open garage sits at the lighter end. The next floor matters too, because a coating that needs a rougher surface can call for a different method.
How do I get my garage ready for epoxy floor removal?
Clear the space and close off the doorways. Removal guides say to move furniture and appliances out and cover doorways before epoxy comes up, so dust doesn't spread through the house. We'll go over anything else your floor needs at the estimate.
What causes epoxy to peel off a concrete floor?
Usually it's the concrete under it, because a slab that wasn't ground and cleaned well gives the epoxy nothing solid to grab. Moisture coming up through the slab or oil soaked into it can do the same. Getting the old coat off and fixing the cause has to come before any new coat goes on.
Work that often follows stripping
Epoxy Floor Coatings
Once the old coating is gone, a fresh epoxy system can go right onto the prepared slab, giving your garage or basement a tough floor that's easy to clean again.
Commercial & Industrial Epoxy Floor Coatings
For shops and warehouses, we plan the removal and the new coating as one job, scheduled around your hours so the floor gets back into use sooner.
